i4i and DelibDemCEE projects presented at APSA 2024 conference

Prof. Paulina Pospieszna participated in the prestigious American Political Science Association (APSA) conference held in Philadelphia from 5th-8th September 2024, presenting two significant research papers.

The first paper, "Integrating Citizen Climate Deliberations for Impact: A New Analysis Framework", launches a new model for assessing the impact of citizen panels in Europe. The research is part of a new i4i project funded by the Polish National Science Centre (NCN) within the Weave Unisono grant, conducted in collaboration with researchers from Germany and Belgium. The paper was presented during the panel Reimagining Climate Governance: Are Climate Assemblies Reshaping Climate Policy?

The second paper, "Climate Governance. ‘Deliberation in Fragile Democracies: Citizens' Assemblies in Georgia", analyses the role of citizens’ assemblies in shaping civic engagement and democratic socialisation in Georgia. The paper, co-authored with Tsveta Petrova (Columbia University, USA) and Nanula Silagadze (Åbo Akademi University, Finland), explores the outcomes of deliberative processes in a society with weak democratic traditions. The conference paper was presented as part of the panel Divided Times: Deliberative Democracy in Post-Conflict & Polarised Societies.
