Forgotten Vessels. River fleets of the II Republic of Poland

“Forgotten vessels. River fleets of the II Republic of Poland” International Scientific Conference organised by the Oder Museum FOMT in cooperation with the AMU Institute of Military History was held in Wrocław on May 24-25, 2019 on board of a river barge and the Narbor tow vessel moored on the River Oder. The honorary patronage over the Conference was taken by Marek Gróbarczyk, the Minister of Maritime Economy and Inland Navigation. 32 speakers took part in the Conference.

The Scientific Committee was formed by Ph.D. Stanisław Januszewski – the chair, representing the Open Museum of Technology Fundation in Wrocław, Prof. Maciej Franz representing the AMU Institute of Military History, as well as Prof. Andrzej Olejko from the University of Technology and Economics in Jarosław, Robert Domżal from the National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk, Tomasz Miegoń, the director of the Museum of the Navy in Gdynia and Prof. Andrzej Makowski representing The Academy of Navy in Gdynia.

„Forgotten vessels. River fleets of the II Republic of Poland” International Scientific Conference, organised jointly by the principal Polish History Institutions dealing with the history of sea wars, was by far one of the most important maritime conferences in 2019.

The “Forgotten vessels. River fleets of the II Republic of Poland” publication, edited by S. Juszewski in Wrocław 2019, is the result of the Conference sessions and has become one of the key materials commemorating 100 years of the Polish Vistula Fleet as well as Pińsk Fleet.
