Summer Seminars of Polish Culture
Over two weeks, students will attend language classes and culture seminars led by interdisciplinary Faculty of Polish and Classical Philology at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. Class meetings and related activities will be hosted on AMU’s online learning platform via Microsoft Teams.
Coursework is divided into two categories: a Polish Civilization Series (a seminar cluster on topics in Polish culture) and language classes at the elementary and advanced levels. The Polish Civilization Series will be taught by a roster of seminal scholars representing diverse fields (musicology; film and media studies; gender studies; literary studies, and Polish-Jewish studies).
Seminars with a focus on digital media will take full advantage of the program’s virtual format. Coursework will be complemented by meet-and-greet coffee hours with student peers in Poland, virtual office hours with participating faculty, and virtual site visits to historical landmarks in Poznań.
The program’s capstone is a closing symposium during which students will share original research projects based on the seminar content. Faculty respondents pre-assigned to students will provide feedback and prompts for further study.
