The Love Lit Club invites you to its first poetry event, moderated by dr Jeremy Pomeroy and dr Jacek Olesiejko, which will be devoted to alliterative effects in English verse. Beginning with a retrospective look at the technique in the characteristic verse of Old English, we will then go on to look at similar effects in the early work of Ted Hughes. Attendees are more than welcome to bring an example of alliteration by a poet from the British Isles or the wider Commonwealth. The session will conclude with a short writing lab, were alone or in small groups we attempt writing alliterative lines.
