Call for Volunteers

Action Reconciliation Service for Peace (ARSP), a non-profit organisation based in London, Krakow and Berlin is able to offer four fully funded places on their 12-month-long voluntary service programme in the UK for young people (18-30 years) from Poland starting in September 2023.

This is an exciting opportunity for young people to immerse themselves in the English language and culture. They will gain work experience through work placements in a number of well-known NGOs based in London, Coventry and Exeter and participate in an international education programme which looks at 20th-century European history and current affairs issues.

ARSP pay for travel expenses to and from the UK, provide free accommodation, a monthly travel card for local transport, a food allowance, as well as pocket money. They also cover all visa, health care and other insurance costs.

The application deadline is 31st January 2023 and the application form can be found here: https://www.asf-ev.de/de/english/volunteer-service/application-form/

ARSP has been running youth internship programmes for over 60 years. It was first set up in Germany in 1958 and since then thousands of young people have been given the opportunity to spend a year working on placements in historical and political education, with socially disadvantaged people and people with disabilities. More information about us can be found here: https://www.asf-ev.de/english/start/

The placements which ARSP is currently recruiting for are:

The intern here helps with advocacy work for Roma people, translation tasks as well as helping with youth groups and workshops in schools. This is an ideal placement for someone who wishes to gain experience in translation and interpretation.

The YMCA Exeter, based in beautiful Devon, works with young adults who have become homeless and with people with mental health issues. The intern helps with a varied activity programme that ranges from craft afternoon to kayaking on Dartmoor. Coventry Cathedral, based in Coventry, itis much more than an active worshipping community; it is committed to peace and reconciliation throughout the world. This occurs through work with schools and contacts with the many visitors who come to learn about the Cathedral, as well as its reconciliation partnership work all over the UK and further afield. As a result of its work for reconciliation, the Cathedral has been involved in some of the world’s most difficult and long-standing areas of conflict. The intern here leads workshops for school children and visitors from all over the work, which focus on both the Cathedrals's history and its peace and reconciliation work. Interns also often have a chance to travel nationally and internationally to help facilitate conflict resolution workshops.
