AMU to support students in need from flood-affected areas

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am deeply saddened to hear about the dramatic flood situation affecting the southern regions of our country. I wish to assure you that Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań, stands ready to assist students in need from the affected areas.

I have asked for immediate accommodation to be prepared for those students from the flood-affected areas who received a place in student halls of residence. Still, their accommodation is scheduled for the end of September. The Teaching and Admissions Centre will address detailed information to you by email shortly.

I wish to inform you further that there is an opportunity for those affected by this natural disaster to apply for financial support in the form of an aid grant. Detailed information on the application and assistance procedure can be found at:https://amu.edu.pl/en/admissions/scholarships

I strongly encourage the entire university community, in the spirit of academic solidarity, to actively participate in the donations organised at the university, a grassroots initiative of individual employees. Let our help be an expression of unity and support for those in need.

Prof. Bogumiła Kaniewska

Rector

In addition, a charity concert ‘ Poznań Hearts for Flood Victims’, co-organised by our university, will be held on 24 September, Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the AMU Main Auditorium. The event will be broadcast live by Radio Poznań and WTK television.

Among them are Michał Kowalonek, the former frontman of the band Snowman, today forming the duo Kępiński  Kowalonek, Maja Koman, Daga Gregorowicz from the band DagaDana, the  Wieczornik group, Szymon Siwierski, KOVA, Fun Fatale, Lou Lou Safran, Ia Da Vardi under the baton of Barbara Wilińska, Secret World of the World under the direction of the band's founder, Barbara Wilińska, Secret  World Project, Prahumira, Strefa Zero and the Siekieracy Song and Dance  Group.

Alongside the cultural programme, there will be a fundraising event of no less importance. All income from the tickets will be donated to the Polish Red Cross, which, as part of the #NaRatunekPowódź campaign, helps those most affected by the flood by providing generators, equipment, food, water and first aid to people who have lost their lives in a matter of minutes.

Tickets for the event can be purchased here. The cost is PLN 49.
