A delegation from Vietnam at AMU

On November 4, we had the opportunity to welcome a delegation of 11 guests from Vietnam, led by Mr. Pham Ngoc Thuong, Deputy Minister of Education and Training. The delegation included representatives of the Ministry of Education and Training Rectors of Vietnamese universities and representatives of the Vietnamese Embassy in Poland.

At first, our guests met with AMU Rector Prof. Bogumiła Kaniewska. Prof. Bogumiła Kaniewska and Deputy Minister Pham Ngoc Thuong emphasized the significance of the long-standing friendship between the two countries, the importance of student and academic exchanges, presence at joint conferences and common postgraduate studies.

Following the meeting in the Senate Hall, Ms. Joanna Barszcz, head of the AMU International Relations Center, and Kostiantyn Mazur, PhD, from the AMU International Relation Office, introduced the Vietnamese delegation to the existing cooperation with Vietnamese universities. AMU Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, Prof. Rafał Witkowski, also participated in the discussion, focusing, among other things, on the creation of a fund to support the exchange of young scientists at the government level, the priority of dual-degree studies for AMU Vietnamese philology students, allowing Polish PhD students to choose an assistant supervisor from Vietnam and Vietnamese PhD students to choose an assistant supervisor from Poland and the establishment of joint studies in tourism due to Vietnam's attractiveness in this sector.

Mr Luong Ngoc Minh, Vice Rector of Hanoi University, highlighted in his speech the long-standing cooperation between AMU and Hanoi University. It is worth mentioning that AMU is the only university in Poland that is training future specialists in Vietnamese philology. Currently, Hanoi University hosts ten students from AMU within the framework of a bilateral agreement. In turn, there are presently three students from Vietnam at AMU.

Upon sharing cooperation ideas, the delegation, accompanied by Bogdan Nowicki, PhD, proceeded to the Faculty of Ethnolinguistics, where Vice-Dean Jolanta Bachan organized a meeting with AMU's Vietnamese philology students, along with a presentation in Vietnamese as well as traditional song.
