In late November and early December, an AMU representative participated in a study visit organised by the Marshal's Office of the Greater Poland Region to the Danau Girang Field Centre (DFGC) in Boreneo.
The delegation from Greater Poland consisted of Piotr Kurzawski (head of the Department of Economy of the Office of the Marshal of the Greater Poland Voivodeship), Rafał Śniegocki (Director of the Complex of Landscape Parks of the Greater Poland Voivodeship) and representatives of three Poznan universities: prof. Wojciech Giernacki (Poznan Univeristy of Technology) , Prof. Andrzej Węgiel (Poznan Univeristy of Life Science) and Prof. Jędrzej Wierzbicki (Adam Mickiewicz Univeristy, Poznań)
The team familiarised themselves with the research profile of the facility and held discussions on future research and teaching cooperation with Cardiff University's DGFC director - John Robertson, DGFC scientific manager - Prof. Benoit Gossens and Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre manager - Wong Siew Te, PhD. Preliminary findings indicate the possibility of joint research in the natural sciences (biology and geography) and the exact sciences (mathematics and chemistry). There is also great interest from Cardiff University and Malaysian students in the offer of 2nd and 3rd level studies conducted at Adam Mickiewicz University (e.g. Geohazards and Climate Changes and studies in the Doctoral School of Natural Sciences)," says Prof. Jędrzej Wierzbicki.
