The results of this year's Shanghai Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) 2025 have been announced. Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań, has been ranked between 901 and 1000. This result reaffirms our university's stable position in the rankings, which has remained consistent with previous years. In the detailed global ranking, AMU has moved up 29 places. Conversely, in the national ranking, it has improved by one position, now ranking between 4th and 7th in Poland.
The Shanghai ranking evaluates universities based on several key criteria, including the number of Nobel Prizes and Fields Medal winners, the number of publications in Nature and Science journals, as well as an analysis of data from the Science Citation Index-Expanded and Social Science Citation Index databases.
Compared to last year, AMU recorded an increase in one of the three indicators in which it is included and slight decreases in the other two. These indicators assess, respectively:
- Publications in Nature and Science (N&S): 6 points (+0.3)
- Indexed works in the Science Citation Index-Expanded and Social Science Citation Index databases of Web of Science (PUB): 25.0 (-0.1)
- Scientific activity of employees (PCP): 9.1 (-0.1).
AMU did not score points in the following indicators:
- The quality of education is assessed based on the number of alumni who have received prestigious scientific awards, such as Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals. This assessment is scaled according to the year in which the bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree was earned, with more recent achievements having a greater impact on the overall result.
