AMU scientists among the winners of the Minister of Science and Higher Education Awards for Polish Science Day 2026

Ministry of Science and Higher Education Awards 2026 presentation ceremony in the Polish Theatre in Warsaw during Polish Science Gala.

The award ceremony for Polish Science Day took place at the Polish Theatre in Warsaw, hosted by the Minister of Science and Higher Education. The distinctions are bestowed for outstanding achievements in scientific, teaching, implementation and organisational activities, as well as for lifetime achievements.

Among this year's winners were representatives of the Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Prof. Bronisław Marciniak, former Rector of the AMU from 2008 to 2016. Prof. Witold Szczuciński from the AMU Faculty of Geography and Geology was honoured for his significant achievements in scientific activity. In the teaching category, the award went to Prof. Iwona Piotrowska from the same faculty.

Prof. Krzysztof Jassem from the AMU Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science was honoured for outstanding achievements in implementation activities. The award for achievements in organisational activities went to Prof. Krzysztof Skibski from the AMU Faculty of Polish and Classical Philology.

The Minister of Science and Higher Education Awards are among the most prestigious honours in the Polish academic community. These awards recognise the contributions of researchers, educators, and individuals who play a vital role in advancing scientific institutions and facilitating the transfer of knowledge to the socio-economic environment.
