AMU student a double medallist at the Academic World Championships in canoeing

The Academic World Championships in Canoeing have come to an end. In the Portuguese city of Montemor-o-Velho, our country was represented by 25 student-athletes, including Patrycja Mendelska from AMU.

- 'I participated in the Academic World Championships held in Montemor-O-Velho, Portugal, representing AMU as a third-year geological engineering student at the AMU Faculty of Geographical and Geological Sciences,' says the athlete. She adds - 'Since 2016, I have been practising competitive canoeing in the canoe competition.

- At these competitions, I raced three distances, and in two, I stood on the podium. In the C1 5000m (C for canoe, 1 - number of people in the boat, 5000m - distance), I came 3rd, and in the C2 500 (Olympic distance), my partner and I crossed the finish line first. I am pleased I could represent not only my country but also my university at the competition," she comments.
