For the second time, the Foundation for the Development of the Education System, the National Agency of the Erasmus+ Programme and the European Solidarity Corps organised the European Universities Conference.
This year's edition was held in Krakow under the motto European Universities - Alliances of the Future.
The conference was filled with panels, discussions and presentations that addressed good practices and challenges faced by Polish higher education institutions involved in international alliances.
During the plenary session on European values, among the speakers was Prof. Rafał Witkowski, AMU Vice-Rector for International Cooperation. Referring to Emmanuel Macron's 2017 speech, Prof
Witkowski stated:
"An essential result of our huge involvement in the European University Network is the firm conviction that we are Europeans, Europe is our common home, and we can contribute to this home in a significant way. [...] European alliances, in the case of the AMU it is EPICUR, will help us build such an academic community comprising scientists, students, doctoral students, and administration so that people will vote for this party or another because their hearts are on the right or the left, but no one will vote for populist parties that undermine European values. After all, European Universities are not just about 'interesting projects', 'cool trips', or 'engaging in ad hoc collaborations'. It is something much bigger that helps to create individuals thinking in common European categories."
