Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań (AMU) and Stanisław Staszic State University of Applied Sciences in Piła (ANS) will cooperate in medical and health sciences. On 30 October, the Rectors of both universities, Prof. Bogumiła Kaniewska and Prof. Donat Mierzejewski, signed an agreement. The main area of joint activities is to be a medical degree programme run in Piła by AMU, which will commence once the Minister of Science approves.
- "I wish to thank both the ANS and the regional authorities, who have recognised the need to establish a medical faculty right here, for such great support," says AMU Rector Prof. Bogumiła Kaniewska. - "The implementation of this project will not only benefit both universities, but the entire region. In light of what is happening with medical faculties, we want to prepare well for the launch of this faculty, cooperating in this respect also with the Medical University in Poznań. I believe that we will all succeed in creating a Greater Poland brand in medical education," adds the AMU Rector.
"The agreement will provide a favourable basis for the development of cooperation not only in the education of future doctors but also in the area of scientific research and the organisation of joint conferences and symposia,’ comments Professor Tadeusz Wallas, Representative of the AMU Rector for University Development. - "Thus, academic life in Piła will be enriched. I wish to thank the Rector, Prof. Donat Mierzejewski, for his openness to cooperation with AMU and his unequivocal support for medical education in Piła," adds Prof. Tadeusz Wallas.
