Dr Halszka Bąk among the winners of the Networking Awards for Junior Scientists of Women in Cognitive Science+ (WiCS)

It is with great pleasure that we announce dr Halszka Bąk has been awarded the Networking Award for Junior Scientists of Women in Cognitive Science+ (WiCS+).

The Networking Awards for Junior Scientists of Women in Cognitive Science+ (WiCS+) were established in 2021 as a means of helping female researchers in psychology and related disciplines network with other researchers in their fields. The awardees can thus tap the expertise of senior colleagues to develop their skills as researchers and advance their careers. In 2023 the WiCS+ selected 10 awardees to attend the 64th annual Meeting of the Psychonomic Society—Psychonomics. Only two of those awardees came from Europe, one of them being dr Halszka Bąk of the American Studies Research Unit: Language and Culture, Faculty of English, AMU.

This year’s Psychonomics was held 16–20 November in San Francisco, CA, USA. Dr Bąk presented a part of her “Basic Emotion Terms Catalogue – Polish & English” project funded from the National Science Center grant Sonata 13, Ref. No. 2017/26/D/HS6/00035. Specifically she presented a poster entitled “Feeling it Differently: Emotional Causality of Verbs Across Languages,” co-authored with Dr Jeanette Altarriba (University at Albany — SUNY).
