The LOESS project team: Literacy Boost through an Operational Educational Ecosystem of Societal Actors on Soil Health received 110,500 PLN from the Provincial Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management to create an Educational Soil Garden at the Collegium Geographicum. The new space will be a place to demonstrate and promote best practices in soil health.

The Educational Soil Garden at the Collegium Geographicum is an initiative to advance knowledge of the soil environment and improve public awareness of soil management issues. It will provide a space to educate students, children and young people visiting the Faculty of Human Geography and Planning and Faculty of Geographical and Geological Sciences as part of regular educational events, and local residents about soil science issues. Simultaneously, by integrating the academic and student community and the citizens of Poznan, the Educational Soil Garden will have a social function.

Various solutions are planned for the garden to enhance soil health and preserve the biodiversity of the AMU Campus, including an educational shelter, educational boards, a closed soil profile, demonstration plots, a glebarium, raised beds, a vermicomposter and a permaculture bed.
