Foundation stone in the city of Piła

On Tuesday, 30 July, a foundation stone ceremony was held at the Stanisław Staszic Specialist Hospital in Piła to mark the signing of the foundation act and the laying of the cornerstone for the building of a new mortuary within the framework of the launch of a medical faculty by the Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań - Stage 1. The construction of the new mortuary was co-financed by the Marshall's Office of the Wielkopolska Voivodeship of PLN 6 million.

The event was attended by - Rector of the Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań, Prof. Bogumiła Kaniewska, Vice-Rector for Human Resources and Development, Prof. Tadeusz Wallas, Director of the AMU Nadnotecki Institute in Piła, Paweł M. Owsianny, PhD the Member of Parliament Piotr Głowski, representatives of the Marshal's Office of the Greater Poland Voivodeship - board members Katarzyna Kretkowska and Jacek Bogusławski, Piła Starost Rafał Zdzierela, Piła Mayor Beata Dudzińska, Rector of the Stanisław Staszic Stane University of Applied Sciences in Piła, prof. ANS Donat Mierzejewski, Director of the Stanisław Staszic Specialist Hospital in Piła, Wojciech Szafrański, provincial and district councillors, representatives of the medical and nursing authorities, education and the media.

The memorial foundation act was signed by the project's initiators, funders, the creating entity and the investment contractor. The document and other commemorative items were then enclosed in a time capsule and walled into the mortuary foundations. The artefacts placed in the time capsule included a collector's coin, issued by the National Bank of the Republic of Poland on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the University of Poznan, a pin with the AMU logo, and an article from Życie Uniwersyteckie entitled 'The University's Life'. " Honorary Doctorate for Prof. Bogumiła Kaniewska".

A new mortuary will be built at the Piła Hospital to replace the current one. Teaching rooms with the possibility of watching live treatments and operations performed in the hospital block will be built on the first floor. The building will also include an area with cold rooms and modern rooms for pathomorphological and genetic tests. Medical students are expected to use it from their first year of study.
