Linguists from around the world will gather at AMU next year

The 21st International Congress of Linguists (ICL 2024), organised by Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań and the Permanent International Committee of Linguists (CIPL), will be held in Poznań next year in September. AMU will host the event as the first academic centre in Poland. The congress is scheduled to kick off on 8 September and will last one week - until 14 September.

The ICL Congress has been bringing together the most distinguished linguists from all over the globe for almost 100 years. Its themes emphasise the multifaceted and interdisciplinary nature of linguistics as a research discipline. Congress participants discuss socially current topics such as languages at risk, multilingualism, artificial intelligence, technology and language.

The chair of the organising committee of the ICL 2024 congress is the Vice-Rector for Research, Prof. Katarzyna Dziubalska-Kołaczyk, and the chief organiser on behalf of the CIPL is Dr Camiel Hamans.

The ICL 2024 Congress has received honorary patronage from the Rector of the Adam Mickiewicz University, Prof. Bogumiła Kaniewska, Marshal of the Greater Poland Voivodeship, Marek Woźniak and President of the City of Poznań Jacek Jaskowiak.
