On February 1, 2026, the Centre for the Development of Educational Innovation (ORID) officially began its operations at Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań – a new university-wide unit responsible for professionalising academic teaching and supporting the teaching skills of academic teachers and doctoral students, as well as supporting distance learning.
The Centre's services will include training courses to develop the methodological, digital, and social skills of those who conduct classes. The comprehensive program will include courses, mentoring, methodological consultations, and a grant system designed to support the development and implementation of teaching innovations. It aims to enhance the teaching skills of academic staff and doctoral students. ORID is responsible for overseeing these activities, in collaboration with the Distance Learning Support Centre and the Education Quality Office.
The ORID director, Prof. Natalia Walter, and the program council, composed of academic teachers representing the university's various schools and branches, along with teaching experts, will be responsible for developing a coherent concept for the Centre's growth and adapting it to the specific needs of individual departments and university branches.
The AMU received PLN 1,767,086.40 in funding for the launch of the Centre and the preparation of its training offer as part of the National Centre for Research and Development's ‘Doskonałość dydaktyczna’ competition (Działanie „Umiejętności w szkolnictwie wyższym”, Priorytet „Umiejętności” programu Fundusze Europejskie dla Rozwoju Społecznego 2021-2027).
The ORID headquarters are located in Collegium Maius (rooms 01 and 05 in the basement). All information concerning the Centre's activities will be published on the website orid.amu.edu.pl, the intranet, and the unit's social media, ultimately serving as an open catalogue of educational resources and a platform for cooperation and improvement for educators.
