The scientific project of Prof. Grażyna Liczbińska from the AMU Faculty of Biology entitled 'The family as a source of knowledge on historical Poznań, 1830-1930' has been recognised by the prestigious British publishing house Routledge.
Prof. Liczbińska has been allowed to develop a special edition of the journal 'The History of the Family', focusing on the impact of environmental stresses on society. It is a topic identical to the research conducted by Prof. Liczbińska as part of the project 'The family as a source of knowledge about historical Poznań, 1830-1930'.
The research subject is the Poznan family in the years 1830-1930. For this project, a team led by Prof. Liczbińska has used individual information on births, marriages and deaths recorded in Catholic and Protestant parish registers in Poznan. The books have been deposited in the State Archives in Poznań. Based on these, the records of the Poznań families will be reconstructed to verify the research hypotheses.
- We aimed to investigate the impact of the social, economic and psychological well-being of the family on the biological and social condition of the descendants. Through a multifaceted study of the family, we sought to deepen the existing knowledge of the Poznań family over 100 years and to fill in the gaps in knowledge on the interaction between parents and children and its social, cultural and biological consequences," says Prof. Liczbińska in an interview published in Życie Uniwersyteckie.
The project is expected to result, among other things, in a database of Poznan's inhabitants, consisting of individual information on all components of the natural movement: marriages, births and deaths from the first half of the 19th century to the inter-war period. The database will be built according to international standards and will be linked to existing similar databases for Europe. It will also be available to the Polish public through a free online application that has been prepared to allow those interested to find information about their ancestors.
The research was presented internationally for the first time at a scientific conference in the Netherlands, where the Professor flew as the winner of the ID-UB competition (competition 093 'Scientific Conferences').
