The 34th European Crystallographic Meeting is being held in Padua, Italy, from 26 to 30 August. During the conference, the most significant European crystallographic prize - the Max Perutz Prize - was awarded, and its recipient is Professor Mariusz Jaskólski. The prize is awarded by the European Crystallographic Society.
Professor Jaskólski was honoured for his lifetime commitment to the crystallographic study of medically relevant macromolecules. His achievements include the co-discovery of the first retroviral protein, which contributed to the successful development of effective medicines for AIDS.
In addition, Professor Jaskólski has made substantial contributions to ultra-high resolution methodology and superstructure modulation in protein crystallography, structural biology of plant hormone regulation, and most recently to structural studies of enzymes for potential applications as anti-leukaemia drugs.
Our sincere congratulations!
