Prof. Magdalena Musiał-Karg has been nominated to the Core Group of Experts on Political Parties, operating at the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR).

The Core Group of Experts on Political Parties is a prestigious advisory and consultative group assisting the ODIHR with the principle of political parties in the OSCE-participating States. The group was established in 2011 to develop the first edition of the ODIHR and Venice Commission Guidelines on the Regulation of Political Parties (issued in 2010). The members, selected from internationally experienced experts from various regions of the OSCE area, operate pro bono. They ensure support in shaping and maintaining legislation on political parties in line with international standards and OSCE commitments.

The group analyses draft and existing legislation on political parties in OSCE countries. A significant focus of its activities includes co-authoring and updating the ODIHR-Venice Commission Guidelines. The document is a key resource for legislators, civil society representatives, and academics regarding regulatory good practice. Representatives of the Council of Europe's Venice Commission and the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) also participate in the group work as observers.

Prof. Magdalena Musiał-Karg was elected to the Committee, given her specialist expertise and research experience in political parties, elections and referendum regulation.

Prof. Magdalena Musiał-Karg works at the Department of Political Systems of the Faculty of Political Science at the Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznan. She specialised in research on direct democracy and the use of new technologies in democratic systems, with particular emphasis on electoral processes (e-voting).
