Representatives of University Councils from Ukraine on a study visit to AMU

On 7-8 February, Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznan (AMU), is hosting a group of representatives from three newly established university councils from Ukraine, launching their operation. They have come to gain experience.

‘’It's a pilot project that will be extended to other universities,‘’ says AMU's Vice-Rector, Professor Rafał Witkowski. - ‘’Further councils will be set up this year so that the rector selection system of Ukrainian universities is modelled on European standards. Therefore, two types of meetings will be held: a theoretical introduction and the first meetings of these councils. And once again right here in Poznan!’ - emphasises Prof. Rafał Witkowski and continues, adding that AMU will share its experience with the guests.

The councils will operate in accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine "On the experiment of extending the autonomy of some higher education institutions." The study visit to AMU aims to acquaint the visitors with the best practices of the functioning of university councils in the European context. The event's participants will also jointly develop the principles of decision-making by university boards on financial, staffing, educational and academic quality standards, fundraising and the development of the institution's marketing strategy.
