At the Conference on Machine Translation, which takes place on 7-8 December 2022 in Abu Dhabi (UAE), the results of the General MT Shared Task competition were officially announced. This Year's task was to create the best possible translator capable of translating texts from various fields in a Czech-Ukrainian text pair.
Our students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at AMU took first place!
Artur Nowakowski and Gabriela Palka (doctoral students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science) and Mikołaj Pokrywka and Kamil Guttmann (students of the Faculty of Computer Science, participating in the AITech project) designed a translation model that performs better than those of competitors such as Google, Microsoft, Yandex or Amazon. The only unbeatable opponent proved to be a human translation.
