TeRRIFICA is a project providing a comprehensive and wide-ranging review of knowledge on climate change adaptation research, actual development policy interventions, and the strategies and methods used to communicate climate change risks to external partners (society, business and public authorities).
The project execution will identify opportunities, factors and barriers related to the implementation of climate change adaptation interventions. Particular attention will be drawn to overcoming challenges related to acceptance, feasibility levels and regulatory constraints in six pilot regions located in Spain, Germany, France, Serbia, Poland and Belarus. The chosen areas reflect the diversity of development policy approaches to climate change mitigation, depending on geographical, functional and political circumstances (Central Europe - Southern Europe, Eastern Europe - Western Europe, urban region - rural region, EU regions - non-EU regions).
Furthermore, innovative communication strategies and dialogue action formats will be identified and adapted. Through the use of the Living Lab methodology, diverse partners (with a particular focus on regional authorities) will be involved in the project as active co-participants. Thus, recommendations, procedures, tools and methodologies tailored to the various objectives and roles of the external partners will be established, while taking into account the fundamental principles of RRI (Responsible Research & Innovation) and the goals of integrated sustainable development.
