The project entitled “Opracowanie strategii terapeutycznych chorób genetycznych człowieka powodowanych ekspansją powtórzeń nukleotydowych (Development of Therapeutic Strategies for Human Genetic Disorders Caused by the Expansion of Nucleotide Repeats)”, which will be implemented at the AMU Faculty of Biology, was among four projects selected in the Foundation for Polish Science competition for International Research Agendas. The FNP awarded almost PLN 30 million for activities under the supervision of Prof. Krzysztof Sobczak.

The purpose of the selected project is to create an innovative research platform helping to develop more effective methods of treating rare genetic diseases (such as Huntington's disease). The research will involve the creation of laboratory models for the safe testing of new therapies, as well as the identification of characteristic biological markers for these diseases. The researchers will also test the therapeutic potential of promising substances, both the ones they have already discovered and new ones developed during the project.
