On Wednesday, 4 February, the Great Poland Space Council was established at the Marshal's Office of the Great Poland Voivodeship. Among the members appointed to this Council are the Rector of Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań, Prof. Bogumiła Kaniewska, and the Director of the AMU Astronomical Observatory Institute, Prof. Agnieszka Kryszczyńska.
The Council aims to foster the growth of the regional space sector by promoting space technologies, satellite observation, and the utilisation of satellite infrastructure. The establishment of the Council is aimed at consolidating the space community in the Greater Poland region, strengthening cooperation and contributing to the development of a competitive, innovative economy in the region.
The Council's main tasks will include: identifying directions for the development of the space sector in Greater Poland, promoting knowledge about space technologies, issuing opinions on regional projects, strengthening technology transfer to other sectors (e.g. agriculture, environment, crisis management), integrating the science, business and administration ecosystem, and promoting the region's potential on the international stage.
The Great Poland Space Council was established by Resolution No. 2946/2025 of the Great Poland Voivodeship Board on 18 December 2025.
