The book collection of Prof. Josef Wiesehöfer during packing for transfer to the library of the AMU Collegium Historicum

The Library of the AMU Collegium Historicum has recently received a stunning collection of books on antiquity (Greece, Rome, Judaica, and Christianity) as a gift. The giver is Professor Josef Wiesehöfer, Professor Emeritus of Ancient History from the Christian Albrecht University of Kiel, an internationally recognised expert in the history of the ancient Persian Empire and its relations with the Greco-Roman world.

It is another example of the excellent collaboration and friendship between Kiel University and AMU.

The book collection of approximately 3,000 books was packed by the antiquarians - Prof Krzysztof Królczyk and Prof Katarzyna Balbuza, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of History, who at the time was undertaking her research and teaching residency at Kiel University. The team also included MA Hanna Kossak-Nowocień from the Faculty of History Publishing House and Mikołaj Śrama, a history teaching student at WH. This project was funded by Prof. Rafał Witkowski, the AMU Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, and Prof. Przemysław Matusik, the Dean of the AMU Faculty of History.
