It's the UNESCO Geodiversity Day on October 6th!
Over 600 participants from more than 60 countries came together at the Oxford Geoheritage Virtual Conference, 25-29 May 2020. Appreciating the values of the natural environment and noting the threats from human actions, they shared current research in geodiversity and geoheritage.
Four of the conference delegates then called for the establishment of an International Geodiversity Day, aimed at increasing worldwide understanding and awareness of geodiversity and geoheritage issues.
