University Social Responsibility Working Group meeting

The first meeting of this year's Working Group on University Social Responsibility has taken place. Our University was represented by Anna Schmidt-Fiedler, a member of the AMU Sustainability Team.

Commitment to social responsibility and sustainability are crucial for AMU. Our University is part of the Working Group on Social Responsibility of Universities (SOU) under the leadership of Professor Piotr Wachowiak - Rector of the Warsaw School of Economics and the Group's coordinator - within an inter-university forum, we exchange knowledge and experience, design and implement joint initiatives, and promote good practices.

The new year began with a meeting for the Group in the Senate Room of the Warsaw School of Economics (SGH) and the setting of an ambitious agenda for 2024. The main focus will be due diligence in responsible business conduct, especially in the context of the work on the Corporate Sustainable Due Diligence Directive (CSDD) and the cooperation of universities with business and the third sector in this area.

The Directive is a ground-breaking European Union initiative, creating a comprehensive framework for identifying, preventing, mitigating and accounting for negative impacts on human rights and the environment in the operations and supply chains of large companies.
