We are proud to announce that a team of debaters affiliated with Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań won the world vice-championship in British parliamentary debating in the ESL category at Sofia WUDC 2026, one of the most prestigious debating tournaments in the world. The ESL category includes people for whom English is not their native language, but their second language of communication.
One of the members of the two-person team was Wiktor Chałupniczak, a student of International Relations at the AMU Faculty of Political Science and Journalism, who, together with his tournament partner, reached for the silver medal in international competition at the highest level.
They are the first team from Poland to reach the ESL final in the tournament's history, making a significant mark on Polish academic debating.
Their achievement is a huge success, confirming the high academic and debating standards of the community centred around Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznan.
We warmly congratulate them on their success and wish them further achievements.
