Inauguration of the AMU Scientific Advisory Board

One of the objectives of Adam Mickiewicz University's Strategy for 2020-2030 is to establish a Scientific Advisory Board, an independent consultative board tasked with understanding the most crucial areas of the AMU's activities and providing advice on their development. On March 8, 2023, the first meeting of the AMU SAB was held.

Members of the team were welcomed by the Rector of AMU, - Prof. Bogumiła Kaniewska, Chair of the AMU Scientific Advisory Board.

The meeting was moderated by the Vice-Rector for Research - Prof. Katarzyna Dziubalska-Kołaczyk.

The members invited to cooperate with the AMU Scientific Advisory Board are:

  • Prof. Dirk Inze, Ghent University,
  • Prof. Jeremy Sanders, Cambridge University,
  • Prof. Hans-Jochen Schewier, Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg,
  • Prof. Michael S. Vitevich, University of Kansas,
  • Prof. Julia von Blumenthal, Humboldt-Universität in Berlin.

On behalf of AMU, the following are involved in the work of the AMU SAB:

  • Prof. Bogumiła Kaniewska, Rector of AMU, Chair of AMU SAB,
  • Prof. Katarzyna Dziubalska-Kołaczyk, AMU Vice-Rector for Research,
  • Prof. Przemysław Wojtaszek, AMU Vice-Rector for Research Projects and Doctoral Studies,
  • Prof. Rafał Witkowski, AMU Vice-Rector for International Cooperation,
  • Dr Anna Stachowiak-Szrejbrowska, Head of the Operations and Grant Application Support,
  • Kamil Frąckowiak, PhD student representative, School of Exact Sciences (School of Sciences).

During the meeting, the guests were introduced to the AMU, and the aims and challenges of the AMU Scientific Advisory Board were discussed.

The group's assignment will focus, among other things, on revising the directions of activities in the areas covered by the AMU Strategy 2020-2030: the development and strategy of internationalisation, the involvement of the University community in decision-making processes, established collaborations, etc. The importance of the opinions of external advisors and the exchange of experiences was also emphasised as a valuable contribution to the development of AMU.

The next meeting of the AMU SAB will be held stationary - in Poznań - in October this year.
