SAB recommendations for AMU

On 15 January this year, Prof Katarzyna Dziubalska-Kołaczyk, AMU Vice-Rector for Research, presented recommendations prepared by the members of the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) at a meeting of the AMU Rectors' Collegium.

The recommendations are the result of the first face-to-face meeting of SAB members held at Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznan, in September 2023. Their authors are renowned representatives of foreign universities invited to the SAB committee, including:

  • Prof. Julia von Blumenthal (President of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin)
  • Prof. Jeremy K.M. Sanders (Professor Emeritus and former Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Institutional Affairs at Cambridge University)
  • Prof. Hans-Jochen Schewier (Professor and former Rector of the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg)
  • Prof. Michael S. Vitevich (University of Kansas).

Recommendations centred around the following issues:

  1. An international network of research activities
  2. Expansion of the Project Support Centre
  3. The shape and activities of the Institute for Advanced Studies in Social Sciences and Humanities - IAS
  4. The "AMU Excellence Visiting Postdoctoral Researchers" programme
  5. The "AMU Excellence Visiting Professors" programme
  6. AMU Doctoral Schools

The report also highlights the necessity of creating a professional image of AMU on the Internet as a leading research university and an attractive higher education institution for potential students.

The recommendations developed by the Scientific Advisory Board have been discussed and are an essential step towards formulating a new scientific policy for the university.
