On 20-21 June 2024, the third meeting of the Scientific Advisory Board (AMU SAB) was held at the Collegium Minus and Collegium Rubrum. In addition to members of the advisory body, the event was attended by deans, heads of doctoral schools, leading scientists, researchers, PhD students and students to discuss the latest developments and strategic lines in research and education.
The meeting began on 20 June in the Rector's Office in the Collegium Minus, where participants were welcomed by the AMU Rector, Prof. Bogumiła Kaniewska. It was preceded by an introductory session led by Vice-Rectors Prof. Katarzyna Dziubalska-Kołaczyk and Prof. Przemysław Wojtaszek, with the science theme. Participants, including deans and heads from various scientific centres, presented research achievements and plans.
A further topic concerned Doctoral Schools, with their heads or representatives introducing their programmes and elaborating on the challenges and expectations faced by doctoral students. In turn, interactive discussions between foreign SAB members and doctoral and master's students provided information on their academic experiences and aspirations.
The second day of the meeting, held in AMU's new building, Collegium Rubrum, was focused on a review of AMU's priority areas and strategic partnerships. Prof Katarzyna Dziubalska-Kołaczyk and Prof Przemysław Wojtaszek presented a report on ID-UB activities in 2023, the results of the mid-term evaluation and the outcomes of the March ID-UB POB meeting in Gniezno. Updates on the AMU's activities within the EPICUR European University Alliance were provided by Prof Rafał Witkowski, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation.
Talks covered research priorities, international publications and strategic partnerships involving representatives of the ID-UB committee and leading academics. The event concluded with a general debate and conclusion, emphasising the need to develop an academic policy at AMU and strengthen the commitment to developing international collaboration and research excellence.
