21st International Congress of Linguists (ICL)

In a month, linguists from around the globe will come to Poznań! The 21st International Congress of Linguists (ICL 2024), organised by the Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań, and the Permanent International Committee of Linguists (CIPL), will begin on 8th September. The ICL Congress is one of the most renowned scientific events devoted to linguistics, during which researchers from prestigious linguistic centres worldwide present their research results.

The theme of the ICL 2024 Congress is 'Languages - Communities - Technologies'. Over half a thousand scientists have declared their participation, and registration is still open. The congress will last until 14th September. Planned activities include 12 plenary lectures, almost 20 workshops and a wide range of thematic sessions. The conference topics cover a broad scope of areas in linguistics, including multilingualism, historical linguistics, phonetics and phonology, lexicology and lexicography, corpus linguistics, translation studies, etc. What is the relationship between language and artificial intelligence? What is linguistic diversity? How does language get processed inside the brain? These and many other socially up-to-date topics will be addressed by the congress participants, held at the Poznań Congress Centre.

The chairperson of the congress organising committee is the AMU Vice-Rector for Research, Prof. Katarzyna Dziubalska-Kołaczyk, and the CIPL representative is Dr. Camiel Hamans.
