This Saturday (4 March), the ZAMEK Culture Centre in Poznań will host a unique exhibition on 'Not That Sky' (Orig. "Nie to Niebo"), inspired by astronomy and the phenomenon of the starry sky.
The curator of the exposition is Ms Justyna Olszewska, a doctoral student at the AMU Astronomical Observatory Institute,
Faculty of Physics.
"[...]The sky is nothing more than the blue colour of the layer of the atmosphere above which the interplanetary void extends. Just 100 km above the Earth's surface, there is a conventional boundary between the Earth's atmosphere and outer space, the area of which goes far beyond our imagination. There are fewer and fewer places in the world where the view of the night sky remains untouched by human activity. However, once we find ourselves away from the city lights, we can feast our eyes on the projection of the starry sky. It is an extraordinary spectacle, fascinating humans since the dawn of time. The darkness of the night sky, illuminated by the glare of the moon and billions of stars, still remains a mysterious, impenetrable reality that fires the imagination [...]"
The display will be on view until 2 July 2023, from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Audio guides in English are available.
