From 5 to 8 July this year, the Faculty of Human Geography and Planning will host a doctoral workshop conducted under the auspices of AESOP - the Association of European Schools of Planning. It is a highly prestigious, regular event, organised annually in different cities in Europe, which precedes the AESOP Congress, scheduled from 11 to 15 July in Łódź.
The workshop is addressed to PhD students, who develop their research skills and improve their dissertations during joint sessions. The event in Poznań received more than 60 applications from research centres around the globe. From this group, 37 doctoral students were selected to come to Adam Mickiewicz University after a substantive evaluation of the submitted abstracts.
During the workshop, the PhD students, under the supervision of mentors, will present and perfect their dissertations, participate in discussion sessions, workshops on writing scientific articles and training on conducting scientific research, applying for conferences and using various research methods. There will also be time for individual consultations. In addition, they will learn how to combine professional and personal development and will attend city walks. Team-building meetings and a formal dinner are also planned.
The introductory lecture (Opening Speech) will be given by Dr Eva Purkarthofer from Aalto University in Finland. Discussion sessions (Plenary Roundtables) will feature, among others, Prof Thorsten Wiechmann (TU Dortmund, Germany), Dr Hanna Janta (University of Basel, Switzerland/University of Surrey, UK) and Dr Milan Husar (Slovak University of Technology, Slovakia).
