Diversity Day, officially known as "The World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development", is an international holiday celebrated worldwide on May, 21st. The idea emerged in response to the growing understanding of the importance of intercultural dialogue in a world that has become both globalized and divided on an unprecedented scale. We celebrate the day to protect and promote the diversity of cultural expressions, create the conditions for cultures to develop and ensure wider and balanced cultural exchanges in the world. A number of cultural events are organized worldwide. You can find more information here: https://www.un.org/en/observances/cultural-diversity-day
At our University, Diversity Day events have been traditionally organized by the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, the most culturally and linguistically diverse department, with a number of foreign lecturers on the staff.
This year we are celebrating Diversity Day with a picnic “Tastes and aromas of the world”, where the Department’s staff and students will prepare a number of dishes from an impressive range of cuisines. This is probably the only day and place in Poznań where you will be able to get a taste of Ukrainian, Turkish, Arab, Iranian, Indonesian, Korean, Indian, and Khmer cuisine, have a cup of traditionally brewed tea with original Lithuanian sweets.
