The 23rd edition of Pyrkon - one of Europe's biggest fantasy festivals - will be held at Poznań EXPO on 13-15 June 2025. As part of the event, we invite you to visit the Fantastic AMU stand, where a variety of attractions prepared by the staff and students of Adam Mickiewicz University Poznań will await you.
You are bound to find Fantastic AMU at this year's Pyrkon in as many as five various locations! A rich agenda of attractions can be anticipated for the participants. University stands will be available on each of the three festival days.
In the Science Zone, visitors will have the opportunity to listen to lectures and join in panel discussions:
- "War and Peace Among the Stars. Armed conflicts in science fiction cinema" ( Rafał Wiśniewski, Ph.D.),
- “Scientist Interprets Fantasy” (Prof. Bogumiła Kaniewska, Moderator: Prof. Maciej Michalski),
- “Dialogue between historians and Tolkien” (Prof. Igor Kraszewski, Prof. Maciej Michalski, Prof. Józef Dobosz),
- “Promotion of science through fantasy” (Dr Mateusz Frankiewicz, Dr Jakub Wojtczak).
The Ground of Fan Initiatives will host numerous attractions such as quizzes, exhibitions and interactive shows. The Faculty of Biology will offer a meeting with the microcosmos, and the gamekeepers will help to create a virtual version of hide-and-seek. The Faculty of Physics and Astronomy will guide attendees on a journey through space. For the second time, in cooperation with the Pyrlandia Team, we will dive into the Tolkien world, admiring artefacts from Middle-earth.
As is tradition at Fantastic AMU, the programme will not be complete without ancient board games. Look out for them in the Board, Battle and Card Games Zone. The following titles will be ready to play: Go, Hnefatafl, Senet, Tryktak and Patolli.
Comic fans will also find something special! In Pavilion 5A, the Comics Onsite Reading Room of the Poznań University Library will be open.
The representatives of Fantastic AMU will mark their attendance in the outdoor section as well. Look out for the telescope stand at pavilion 3, near the stage (exact times are available in the programme). Be sure to visit the Science Point, where, under the watchful eye of master craftsmen, we will build a log cabin!
