On 13-15 November, the 50th anniversary of cooperation and the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Bilateral Agreement between Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań (AMU), and Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel (CAU) will be celebrated. The event will be attended by 47 academics, doctoral students and students from Germany, along with a 25-member CAU orchestra.
The Kiel University authorities will be represented by Prof. Ralph Schneider (Vice President for Internationalisation and Early Career Researchers). On the AMU part, the ceremony will be graced by the presence of Her Magnificence the Rector, AMU Vice-Rector Prof. Rafał Witkowski and Vice-Rector Prof. Przemysław Wojtaszek, representatives of the faculties (Deans, Vice-Deans) and academics hosting representatives of the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel at our university.
The musicians from Germany, joined by the AMU Chamber Orchestra conducted by Prof. Aleksander Gref, will be performing on 13th November at the official launch of the celebrations, which this year coincides with the 6th Kiel Days in Poznań - a joint meeting of Poznań and Kiel academics held alternately every two years.
The 6th Kiel Days in Poznań will feature events honouring the long-standing cooperation, including two exhibitions at the AMU Faculty of History: the first entitled, "50 years of shared history between the Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań and the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel. Academic contacts between historians", and the second, “Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel and the Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznan on old postcards from the late 19th and early 20th centuries”. The exhibitions will be accompanied by a book presentation entitled, "MOJA KILONIA - MÓJ POZNAŃ. From the memories of the first scholarship holders (historians)" (German. 'MEIN KIEL - MEIN POSEN. Aus den Erinnerungen der ersten Stipendiat*innen (Historiker*innen') edited by Prof. Katarzyna Balbuza and Hanna Kossak-Nowocień.
The guest lecture by Prof. Michael Düring, which is also a presentation of his new book, "Antoni Słonimski - Dwa końce świata or Zwei Mal das Ende der Welt. The possibilities of translation."
