Lecture by Prof. Allan Rosas within the ‘Academic Poznań’ programme

The Dean of the AMU Faculty of Law and Administration, Prof. Tomasz Nieborak, invites you to an open lecture by Prof. Allan Rosas, former judge of the European Court of Justice, currently serving as chairman of the EU 255 panel assessing candidates for judges and advocates general of the CJEU and the General Court.

The lecture, entitled "The European Court of Justice: Do All Roads Lead to Luxembourg?’" will be held on October 9, 2024, at 4 p.m. in the Auditorium Room (no. 207) of Collegium Rubrum, Al. Niepodległości 53 in Poznań.

The lecture is organised in cooperation with the Krzysztof Skubiszewski Foundation, former professor of the AMU Faculty of Law and Administration, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, and with funding from the City of Poznań, as part of the ‘Academic Poznań’ programme. The lecture is also part of a series of ‘Prof. Krzysztof Skubiszewski Lectures’ held at the AMU Faculty of Law and Administration, aiming to promote knowledge of relevant and contemporary issues in international affairs, including legal aspects.

Professor Allan Rosas has a PhD in law from the University of Turku, an honorary doctorate from the same University, and l'Université de Neuchâtel and an honorary doctorate from Åbo Akademi University. He was formerly a Professor of Public Law at the University of Turku (1976-1981) and at Åbo Akademi University (1981-1995). He has also served as Head of the Institute of Human Rights at Åbo Akademi University (1985-1995) and Vice-Rector of the same University (1994-95). From 1974 to 1995, he was a member or an expert of a significant number of governmental advisory boards and legal commissions in Finland and represented the Finnish government in international bodies, conferences and expert meetings. From 1995 to 2002, he was Chief Legal Adviser and then Deputy Director General of the Legal Service of the European Commission. He is the author of more than 400 publications on EU law, international law and international relations, constitutional law and administrative law.
