The Department of South Slavic Literatures of the AMU Institute of Slavic Studies and the Institute of Advanced Studies in Social Sciences and Humanities welcome you to the forthcoming lecture in the series "Cultural Memory of the Balkans", which will be held in hybrid form on Thursday 20 June 2024 at 5 p.m. in the Mickiewicz Salon under the Dome of the Collegium Maius and MS Teams.
The keynote speaker will be Prof. Sanjin Kodrić from the University of Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina). The title of the lecture: "East and West - heart and mind. Interculturality and cultural memory in modern literature, culture and society of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The lecture will be given in English.

Prof. Sanjin Kodrić (Sarajevo, 1978) is the President of the Bosnian Cultural Community "Renaissance" and a professor of Bosnian and Bosnian-Herzegovinian literature and literary theory at the Department of Literature of the Peoples of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo.
At his home faculty, he is also the chairman of the Council of Doctoral Studies in the Literature of the Peoples of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He was the head of the Department of the Literature of the Peoples of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the head of the Institute of Literature and the Centre for Scientific Research and Professional Activities of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Sarajevo, serving as a visiting professor or upon invitation, he taught undergraduate, graduate and doctoral courses at several universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad. Prof. Kordić is particularly interested in recent Bosnian and Bosnian-Herzegovinian literature (19th and 20th centuries) and the cultural history of the Bosnian people and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as in the theory of literary history, contemporary literary and cultural theories. He is the author of more than 100 scientific papers and numerous specialised studies published in Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad, in addition to six authored scientific books, e.g. : Studije iz kulturalne bosnistike (Književnoteorijske i književnohistorijske teme) Slavistički komitet, Sarajevo, 2018, Bošnjačka i bosanskohercegovačka književnost (Književnoteorijski i književnohistorijski aspekti određenja književne prakse u Bosni i Hercegovini) Dobra knjiga, Sarajevo, 2018, Kako su Bošnjaci vidjeli muslimanski Orijent i evropski Zapad (Kulturalno-imagološke, studije iz bošnjačke i bosanskohercegovačke književnosti) Dobra knjiga, Sarajevo, 2018.
Prof. Kordić has edited or co-edited more than 30 books and anthologies and editions of Bosnian and Bosnian-Herzegovinian literature. He is/was a participant or manager of more than 50 national and international scientific research and other projects, organised and participated in the organisation of more than 40 national and international scientific meetings, and attended more than 100 scientific meetings at home and abroad.
In addition to his various national and international scientific, academic and professional activities, he is editor-in-chief and chairman of the Editorial Team of the issue Bosnian Literature in 100 Books, founder and editor-in-chief of Studia Bosniaca and is one of the co-authors of the Orthography of the Bosnian Language published by the Institute of Bosnian Studies of the Bosnian Cultural Community "Rebirth". Furthermore, he is a member of the leadership of the Bosnian Philological Society, in which he is (co-)editor of the literary section on the editorial board of the journal Pismo and the conference materials of the Sarajevo Philological Meetings. Prof. Kordić was one of the founders and deputy chairman of the Slavic Committee in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he has also been head of the Departments of Literature and Cultural Studies and editor of the library of Bosnian Studies and the conference materials of the Slavic Congress of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the field of literature and culture.
He is a member of the editorial boards, newsrooms and scientific councils of several other scientific journals in Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad (BZK Yearbook "Preporod", Bosnian Studies, Bosnistika plus, Philological Studies, South Slavic Scientific Notebooks, Poznan Slavic Studies, Slavica Lodziensia, Univerzitetska Misao, et al. ). A member of the Comparative Slavic Literatures Research Committee of the International Committee of Slavists and several other national and international scientific and academic organisations.
Prof. Sanjin Kordić has won several prizes and awards for his scientific, academic and cultural work, including the "Hasan Kaimija" Medal, awarded to him for the best book in the humanities and social sciences published in 2017 and 2018 in Bosnia and Herzegovina for his book Bošnjačka I bosanskohercegovačka književnost (Književnoteorijski i književnohistorijski aspects određenja književne prakse u Bosni i Hercegovini).
