Lecture by Professor Anne Peters as part of the "Academic Poznań" programme

The Dean of the Faculty of Law and Administration, Professor Tomasz Nieborak, invites to an open lecture by Professor Anne Peters, a respected specialist in international law, currently Director of the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg and a member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague.

The lecture, entitled 'The Russian invasion in Ukraine: An anti-constitutional moment in international law', will take place on 21 November 2023 at 4 p.m. in the Professor Zygmunt Ziembiński Auditorium of the Collegium Iuridicum Novum at Al. Niepodległości 53 in Poznań.

The lecture is organised in cooperation with the Foundation of Krzysztof Skubiszewski, former professor of the Faculty of Law and Administration and former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, and with the financial support of the City of Poznań, as part of the 'Academic Poznań' programme. The event is also included in a series of 'Prof. Krzysztof Skubiszewski Lectures' held at the Faculty of Law and Administration, the aim of which, is to promote knowledge of relevant and current issues in international affairs, including legal aspects.

During her visit, Prof Anne Peters shall also attend a scientific seminar at the Department of International Law and International Organisations, organised by Dr Agata Hauser thanks to the support of the 'Excellence Initiative - Research University' Project.

Professor Anne Peters has previously served on the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission). She was President of the European Association of International Law (2010-2012) and has sat on the governing boards of several academic associations such as the German Association of Constitutional Law (VDStRL) and the Association for International Constitutional Law (ICON S). She chaired the German Association for International Law (DGIR) until 2023.

She has written and co-authored hundreds of publications in the fields of public international law, legal history, humanitarian constitutionalism law, and animal rights.
