The Faculty of English cordially invite you to the talk by Olha Demydenko, which will be dedicated to the discussion of the results of a survey conducted among Ukrainian students as part of the project “The effects of culture shock and war trauma on bilingual language acquisition in the context of education in a new language environment”.
The talk will focus on the Ukrainian students’ study-abroad experience gained during the war in Ukraine, traumatic stress, challenges, and their current needs in the motherland and abroad. The survey was organized to find the most efficient ways to support the students in these turbulent times. The study findings will be analysed with respect to the contemporary psychological and pedagogical approaches to decreasing culture shock and war trauma symptoms. The project aims to include, among others, the development of practical recommendations to educational institutions dealing with the cultural adaptation of Ukrainian refugees.
