Celtic Research Circle - Dr Antony Hoyte-West on Celtic lg certification

The Celtic Studies Research Unit cordially invites everyone to another meeting of the Celtic Research Circle. This Friday (02.12) at 11:30 in 214 (Faculty of English) dr Anthony Hoyte-West will give a talk on the availability of language certificates in Celtic languages. Abstract available in the full post.

Language certifications are becoming increasingly popular in the modern world, and with the advent of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), skills and qualifications in different languages can be compared easily. Though a range of schemes is available for major international languages such as English, French, and German, qualification suites are also available for several smaller languages. Focusing on the six modern Celtic languages (Irish, Welsh, Breton, Cornish, Manx, and Scottish Gaelic), this talk will present and compare the certifications available for adult learners of those languages. As such, it aims to provide practical insights regarding the structure, availability, and recognition of the relevant qualifications.
