On Wednesday 9 April 2025, our guest at the Children's Literature and Culture Research Team of the Faculty of Polish and Classical Philology at AMU will be Professor Björn Sundmark from Malmö University in Sweden, who will give a lecture entitled ‘Moominalism: Tove Jansson and the Art of the Miniature’. All lovers of the Moomin saga are warmly welcomed!
Björn Sundmark is a scholar and critic of children’s literature and Professor of English literature at Malmö University (Sweden). He has published extensively on children’s literature and is the author of the study ‘Alice in the Oral-Literary Continuum. He is, moreover, the editor and co-editor of several essay collections, including ‘Translating and Transmediating Children’s Literature’, ‘The Nation in Children’s Literature’, ‘Child Autonomy and Child Governance in Children’s Literature: Where Children Rule’, and ‘Silence and Silencing in Children’s Literature’. He has also published the children’s picture book ‘Klättra i träd’ [Climbing Trees], illustrated by Per Gustavsson. He has been a member of the ALMA-jury since 2023. Presently, he is working on one monograph on Tove Jansson and the Moomin books and engaged in a four-year project on the Swedish Publishing house SAGA.
