The AMU Faculty of Law and Administration invites you to an open lecture by Professor Thérèse Murphy entitled ‘Neon Words: Law, Ethics and Human Rights’, which will be held on 13 November 2025 at 2 p.m. in the Auditorium (room 207) of Collegium Rubrum. Niepodległości 53 in Poznań.
The lecture is organised in cooperation with the Krzysztof Skubiszewski Foundation, named after the former professor of the AMU Faculty of Law and Administration and former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, with funding from the City of Poznań as part of the ‘Open Lectures’ programme. The event is also included in the series of ‘Prof. Krzysztof Skubiszewski's lectures, organised by the AMU Faculty of Law and Administration, aimed to promote knowledge on essential and current issues in international relations, including their legal aspects.
About the lecturer
Thérèse Murphy is a professor of law and Head of the Department of Health and Human Rights at Queen's University Belfast. She is chair of the European Master's in Human Rights and Democratisation (EMA) and serves on the governing board of the Global Campus of Human Rights. Her specialisation is human rights law and practice, with a particular focus on health, science and technology.
Among her public service activities, she is a member of the European Group on Ethics on Science and New Technologies. This independent, multidisciplinary body, appointed by the President of the European Commission, advises on policy issues where ethical, social and fundamental rights concerns intersect with science and technology. She is also a member of the
National Research Ethics Committee on Medical Devices, Ireland.
At Queen's Belfast, Professor Thérèse Murphy co-leads the Northern Bridge Doctoral Training Partnership, sponsored by the UK Arts and Humanities Research Council. Previously, she led the Law and Society pathway, part of the ESRC NINE Doctoral Training Partnership.
