The AMU NanoBioMedical Centre and the City of Poznań are pleased to invite you to an open lecture by Prof. Bernhard Bluemich, a specialist in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) methods, entitled: "Adventures with portable MRI: Investigating Cultural Heritage."
The event will be held on May 26 at 2:00 PM in the Lubrański Auditorium (Collegium Minus, Wieniawskiego 1, Poznań).
The lecture will be delivered in English.
Prof. Bernhard Bluemich is a distinguished physical chemist and pioneer of low-field nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) methods, particularly in the field of portable and benchtopNMRspectrometers. His research focuses on NMR methodology: spectroscopy of liquids and solids, materials imaging, and measurement of diffusion and relaxation properties. He has authored or co-authored over 600 scientific papers, has a Hirsch index of 71, and has over 16,000 citations. His publications include key publications in the field of nuclear magnetic resonance, such asNMR Imaging of Materials(2000 Oxford Univ. Press, 476 citations),Compact NMR, andEssential NMR. In 2023, he published an autobiographical article,"What Happened," describing his career and the evolution of NMR in recent decades.
Prof. Bluemich is an outstanding scientist working at the intersection of science and business, who has significantly expanded the scope of NMR applications—from the laboratory to real-world portable devices. His numerous publications and awards make him a figure of undisputed expertise and authority in the world of magnetic resonance. His contributions to the development of relaxation and diffusion methods, as well as the design of compact Halbach magnets, have had a profound impact on contemporary physical chemistry, materials engineering, and cultural heritage research. Thanks to his work at Magritek, his achievements also have an exceptionally strong implementation dimension; the technologies he co-created are still in constant use in laboratories and industry today.
