AMU in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025

The latest edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject analysed more than 5,200 institutions. Out of these, 1,758 were ranked in 55 disciplines covered in 5 main areas: Arts and Humanities, Engineering and Technology, Life Sciences and Medicine, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences and Management.

The Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznan, was  381st worldwide in Arts & Humanities (up from 401-450th place) and 401-450th in Natural Sciences.
In accordance with the ranking results, the highest-ranked scientific disciplines at AMU globally are:

  • Linguistics (ranked 151-200)
  • Archaeology (ranked 201-260)
  • Modern Languages (ranked 251-300)
  • Education (ranked 401-450)
  • Biological Sciences (ranked 551-600)
  • Chemistry (ranked 551-600)
  • Physics & Astronomy (place 401-450)

In contrast, among Polish universities, AMU ranks highest in the following disciplines:

  • Linguistics (place 1-3)
  • Education (2nd place)
  • Archaeology (2nd-3rd place)
  • Modern Languages (3rd place)
  • Biological Sciences (4th place)

The QS World University Rankings by Subject is based on five criteria with variable scales, although not each criterion applies to all disciplines. The following indicators include Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Citations per Paper, H-Index, and International Research Network (co-authored publications resulting from international research partnerships).
