The results of THE World University Rankings 2024 have been published. In this year's ranking, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan maintained its position again (1001-1200) while being placed fifth in the country.
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings is one of the four most recognised university rankings classifying universities from around the globe. The results of the latest ranking were announced at the Times Higher Education World Academic Summit, taking place this year in Sydney from 26-28 September.
In this year's ranking, the methodological assumptions have been refreshed. Changes have primarily been made in the area of analysing the publication activity of universities, including (in addition to the number of scientific papers and their citations) publication validity indicators: Research Excellence and Research Influence. The evaluation of university quality in THE WUR 2024 ranking takes into account five major indicators: teaching (Teaching), research environment (Research Environment), research quality (Research Quality), internationalisation (International Outlook) and industry (Industry). The data are obtained from the universities, the Scopus database and academic reputation surveys distributed to researchers.
Adam Mickiewicz University received the highest score in the area of Research Environment: ranked 505. In this area, the quality of research is assessed based on international reputation, research income and the number of publications per employee. It is worth noting that this year's score in the Research Environment area is significantly higher than in the 2023 list (+40 positions).
THE World University Rankings 2024 takes into account 1,904 universities. A total of 37 universities were ranked in Poland. The top positions were occupied by Jagiellonian University (601-800), the University of Warsaw (601-800), the Medical University of Wrocław (601-800) and the Medical University of Łódź (801-1000).
