Applications are now open for the European Central Bank (ECB) scholarship for women. The deadline for applications is 6 May this year.

The ECB Scholarship for Women is an initiative supporting female postgraduate students in economics, statistics, computer science and engineering from low-income families.

This year, 15 scholarship recipients will be selected.

The scholarship comprises:

  • a sum of €10,000,
  • a study visit to the European Central Bank, including special events, such as a meeting with representatives of the Women in Leadership Network – the ECB’s network for women in leadership roles,
  • learning about the ECB's activities in central banking and banking supervision,
  • meeting other scholarship recipients and joining the community of scholarship programme alumni,
  • advice and mentoring from an ECB economist or expert in the field of banking supervision, statistics, engineering or computer science.

To be eligible for the programme, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • citizenship of an EU country,
  • current or planned Master’s degree studies in economics, statistics, engineering or computer science at a university or business school in Europe,
  • a lack of funding that may prevent them from continuing their studies,
  • a completed first-cycle degree (i.e. bachelor’s degree) with excellent results.

Applications may be submitted until 6 May.
